Our Story

Hello, mama! I'm Justice, the heart and soul behind Not Your Typical Mom. I embarked on this journey with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a space where mothers could connect, share experiences, and find solidarity within motherhood. As a mother myself, I recognized the need for a supportive community that goes beyond parenting advice and embraces the emotional journey of motherhood.

I'm a mother of two toddlers, a girl and a boy. After becoming a single mom while pregnant with my son, my life hit a rough patch. I had to reenter the workforce and work on healing from a breakup while caring for two babies. I needed a mom tribe, but the lack of social resources for nontraditional mothers left me feeling like there wasn't one for me. Most of the groups that I came across were for married mothers with traditional families.

After some healing and conversations with my village, I was set on creating a positive, supportive, transparent, nurturing, empowering and inclusive environment where mothers feel welcome, no matter what stage of motherhood they're in. That's where the name Not Your Typical Mom came from. This community is full of diverse mothers from all walks of life. We have unique stories and experiences, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Whether you're a single mother, a married mother, a stay-at-home mother, a working mother, a teen mother, an expectant mother, a trying-to-conceive mother, a new mother, a seasoned mother, a disabled mother, an adoptive mother, a stepmother, a foster mother, a godmother, a grandmother,  you are welcome here.
